For the third consecutive year, tsou.gr gave its all to arrange yet another great meeting between ouzo and jazz lovers which took place during the three-day Syros Jazz Festival 2018 (Oct 5, 6, and 7). Both the auditorium and the boxes of the historical Apollon Theater of Syros (est: 1864) were filled to capacity with music lovers who, during the intermissions between concerts each night, enjoyed their shots of ouzo in the theater’s hospitable garden where flowering anise and sweet scented geraniums spread their lovely fragrance everywhere. Spentzas Distillery, the event’s sponsor, had made sure that, each event night, the audience would be treated to a special culinary experience.
The acquaintance with the excellent spirits of the distillery began on Friday with Ouzo Veto Silver, the most popular ouzo of the company because of its seafaring character, its dense body and its rich, balanced, light and sweet aroma.
On the second evening the ouzo tasting continued with Ouzo Veto Gold, from 100% aniseed distillation, and keeps the herb’s aroma alive.
Ούζο Spentza 1892 (100% distilled) was the ideal choice for the third and last day of the Festival. This exceptional ouzo is distilled from the most sweet-smelling anise of Mytilene, which grows only in the anise fields of Lisvori. Its distillation takes place exclusively in autumn, when the anise’s scent reaches its apex. This ouzo has a high alcoholic content and is produced on the basis of the old tested recipe of the Spentzas family. In fact, it was first produced way back in 1892 in the Pergamon distillery. Production in Mytilene started in 1948. An explosion of aromas and emotions in collectable numbered bottles, exclusively for the connoisseurs and lovers of first-class ouzo.
